INGREDIENTS:
2 cloves garlic
¾ TSP sugar
3 TSP soy sauce
½ TSP fish sauce
¼ black pepper
½ lbs meat (For this dish, I used tri-tip. The more money you spend, the better your meat.)
½ onion (small) sliced into wedges
½ TSP starch and 4 TSP of chicken broth mixed in a small bowl.
About 1 pound of broccoli
Chili paste (optional)
LET'S COOK:
1. Mash garlic in a small bowl and add the following: sugar, soy sauce, fish sauce, black pepper and chili paste. Slice the meat and add it to the bowl. Let the meat marinate for about 10 minutes.
2. Boil the pound of broccoli in salt water (1 minute). Don’t overcook it.
3. Pour about 1 TSP cooking oil and the sliced onion into a wok or a large pan on high heat. When the onion starts to brown, add the marinated meat and stir fry the ingredients until the meat is half-way cooked. Then, add in the broccoli and stir for about a minute. Lastly, add the mixture of starch and chicken broth to thicken the sauce (or oyster sauce).
4. Remember!!! It's all about improvising.
